URLtv – Hollow Da Don vs Goodz
The Punchline Summary:
The most anticipated battle from URLtv’s last event dropped on Easter Sunday of 2011. Hollow Da Don, one of the most well respected and celebrated battle rappers, takes on the Bronx’s Goodz, a Lionz Den/SMACK veteran. This is probably both of these battler rapper’s biggest battles to date, and it unfortunately ends before the last round is every completed.
Hollow Da Don was solid in this battle and had a lot of good lines like, “lets get the underarm jokes out the way…playoff time, clock .9, and Ewing at the line”, “thanks for the arms, dude said ‘dont sweat it’”, “getting close to the god cause he got his bread and wine/whine”, “rice crispies, I’ll snap, crack you, and pop”, “damn, we thought he did Mashonda bad”, “no Jets, but they coach Rex”, “N* call me hands cause they can count on me, “slammed his ass without looking like Dee Brown”, “how we suppose to believe that Charlie got clips when he only did 3 rounds”, “the day I miss a step is the day Goodz get a neck”, “he screamed on Conceited cause hes small, got in tech9′s face cause he outta state, but he battle Ice in Harlem and gave him a lot of space”, “chop you up and put you in ziplocks and we’ll all be Glad”, and “thats for calling my boots Lugz, thats a lies, those were Timbs”.
Goodz had good lines in this battle too. He had bars like “that Burberry made that sweat look good”, “put a n* with so much style up against a n* that wear those”, “to kill me, yall gon’ need a few of these Hollows”, “if a n* say I got beat clearly, you know he hatin”, “I ain’t have to know Math to put hands on n*”, “you test the equipment, you get your lab rat on”, “I just may have to coach you n*, I’m Pat Riley”, “Hollow and Okwerdz…..what the fuck yall had a relationship problem”, “my n* are like doctors too, we lay n* down and give them shots like they do”, “he’s gon take those same bars and put them in the beginning of his writtens”, and “Hollow never rolled, he got that new car smell”.
The Punchline Count:
Hollow Da Don – 23
Goodz – 15
The Report:
Although I don’t think that this was both of these guys best performances, this was a great look for battling, for Hollow, Goodz, and for URLtv. Both of these rappers are highly touted and have their competition level has been escalating with every battle, and it was an even match up as far as “tiers” are concerned.
Breaking down the battle, I have to agree with a lot of the viewers of the battle on YouTube and RapMusic. I thought that Goodz’ first round was incredibly strong, and he edged out Hollow just a little bit, I think he just ended a little stronger in the first. From there, I think that Hollow really took over, and the momentum switched in the middle of the 2nd round and he took control over the crowd from that point on. I think the real point in which the crowd started to side with Hollow was after that “he screamed on Conceited cause hes small, got in tech9′s face cause he outta state, but he battle Ice in Harlem and gave him a lot of space” line, which was really dope and well delivered. A couple of Hollow’s lines that I thought were also really good was the “slammed his ass without looking like Dee Brown” bar, and the “damn, we thought he did Mashonda bad” line. You could tell that Goodz was prepared with a lot of those sweat stain rebuttals, because he had a few lines prepped for Hollow. His “that Burberry made that sweat look good” was nice, and so was the “Hollow never rolled, he got that new car smell” bar, which he dropped right before there the video cut off. Apparently Goodz threw his bottle a dude in the crowd that made the comment after he spit that bar about Aye Verb and the battle ended.
Hollow’s next battle is against Hitman Holla, which he alluded to at the end of his third. He is also planning on taking on Dizaster sometime this year. Both of these battles should be incredible, Hitman Holla being one of the best in the Midwest and in SMACK, and Dizaster being one of the most revered battle rappers in Grind Time. The Dizaster – Hollow Da Don video might be one of the most viewed of all time, in any league, with the two being huge fan favorites. I think its going to be a very intense battle, with there being a little bit of history between the two, and seeing how Hollow will confront and deal with Dizaster’s literal in-your-face style.
