The Punchline Summary:

King of the Dot presents the first round their Grand Prix 2×2 tournament: The Saurus & Illmaculate vs Manik & Spyte.  Huge battle seeing that this is the first time since the World Rap Championship that the two time winners Illmaculate and The Saurus are battling as a team.  Manik is the KOTD Vancity division president and Spyte have previously battled together in the Grand Prix qualifier against Aspire and Katch 23.

Manik and Spyte had some good lines in this battle.  Over their three rounds, they have lines like “I move white girls old school like a stagecoach”, “typical Americans”, “turn Sand People to glass”, “stayed the same size since he was in grade 5″, “this is 2×2 not 1 1/2″, “he walks in on me and his mom, bitch get back to your room”, “even the blind bitch from elephant man would feel his face and say what the fuck is in my hand”, the Bruno Mars flip, and the “with that face it was ribbed for her pleasure” line.

The Saurus and Illmaculate were pretty on point through this battle.   In their rounds, they had bars like “his inner monologue chimes in and reminds him that ‘I’m a faggot’”, “the brave, the myth, the legend” scheme, “Manik’s moccasins”, “population control”, “Fred Savage – pet faggot”, “we just realized he wasn’t part of the crowd”, “he had to bring this white out to cover up his mistakes”, “you’re trying to clown me for getting pussy, how much if a faggot are you”, “wasn’t my first partner choice….bitch you wasn’t his either”, “you’re just the backstabber the white man let survive”, and “every member of every tribe would have opted for genocide”.

The Punchline Count:

Manik & Spyte – 9

The Saurus & Illmaculate – 12

The Report:

I usually don’t like to write about 2×2′s but c’mon, I gotta write one about The Saurus and Illmaculate battling as a team again.

I definitely think that The Saurus & Illmac took this battle, but not in a clean sweep.  I think Manik & Spyte had a really good first round, to me, I think they took the first.  When I evaluated their rounds, I think that Spyte had all of the best lines, and I was pretty impressed with some of his punchlines, but its like anybody playing MJ, if they score a few, its looks a whole lot more impressive (I think that’s something Mook said when he battled Young Hot or something, I don’t it sounds familiar).

The Saurus and Illmac definitely took the second round and BODIED the third.  Their third round was very reminiscent of the stride they were in, running through teams in both WRC’s. I think they are definitely going to make it to the finals if not take the whole thing.

The one thing that I don’t like about 2×2′s is the Run-DMC like – one after another – finishing each other’s lines, it seems to choreographed and unnatural.  What happened to just going 2 and 4 in a round?

Most of the notoriety of this battle is going to come from what happened after the battle.  I guess there is a little bit of history there and part of it was that  Manik was a little upset by some of things that he heard Illmac say in and after the battle.  You can hear Manik’s side of the story here.  Reading the forums on RapMusic.com, I gotta say that this is probably the funniest comment I read about it, courtesy of MartyMcFly:

“n* i never saw your batle before but i can’t believe you rocking some wong fu braid from like some ming dynasti jet li movie”

Good to see Illmac and The Saurus battle again, and I hope to see more 2×2′s with them, hopefully with the line ups that I made up in this post.
