KOTD – Marvwon vs Loe Pesci
The Punchline Summary:
King of the Dot presents a great match up between two of the most respected battle rappers in any league. Detroit’s Marvwon makes his KOTD debut against Canada’s own Loe Pesci. Despite this being a great competition, this battle was overshadowed by the controversial events that took place in the third round.
In his three round, Marv had lines like “leave him spinning on his back like that other dot head from Office Space”, “tell them I was more Heath Ledger, less Bozo, if they asked if I clowned”, “you’re a figure head president, tell this lame-duck”, “you’re 0 -4 in your last 3 battles dudes, the Real Deal shit was so bad that had to count as 2″, “but I’m really Sin City Marv, dragging your face on that street”, “yall ain’t Super Troopers cause you look like Carl Ram-Rod”, “Loey Buttafuoco”, “you’re daddy food suck, tell him to step his rice game up”, “you too light to be Arsenol and Im too dark to be Pat Stay”, “you’re the real hoe starved for attention like post-pardum depression”, “I ain’t known for snitching with my Family Guy – Loe-is/Louis”, “I know he was a pussy, pink is the color in his mood ring”, and “Pesci is the best n* here, all chokes aside”.
Pesci had some nice lines in this battle. He had bars like “even my knife got a gun like a bayonet”, “Marv Im here if you heart dont get you”, “Star Jones special”, “we both know the fact that you’re here means you don’t have a felony”, “Slash at his throat like a Guns N Roses groupie”, “Tigers in ’03…..the embarrassment of the American League”, “surprise under the seat like the audience at Oprah”, “you said the Jewelry Box, gave out their number, you work for them more than (Aye Verb) does”, “his death stare would impress Manik”, “how many dope deals did you mess up, you little DEA witness”, “you got many windows of opportunity, you’re the size of a cruise ship”, “at some point in time, Im everyones favorite”, and “I won’t treat this as a job, until it pays me enough”.
The Punchline Count:
Marvwon – 14
Loe Pesci – 15
The Report:
Weeks before it actually dropped, the buzz from this battle was centered around the Pat Stay – Marvwon altercation. It was a big deal as far as this battle was concerned, in which it tuned a judged battle into promo, but is not a big deal in the big picture. The overall circumstance was that Pat Stay got drunk, took offense to some of the lines in his inebriated state, directed it as Marv and Marv confronted him. Stay later made a video apologizing for what unfolded, Marv accepted, done deal. I see a lot of people posting comments on how they lost all respect for Pat Stay, or Marv jumped in Pat’s face because he ran out of bars. I don’t agree with any of these statements: we all have gotten drunk and said some shit we regret and sometime it can get out of hand, Pat is still one of the best, if not the best, battle rapper in KOTD, and Marv was clearly done with his round and wanted to confront Pat in the moment.
Now, for the actual battle. I agree with one of the parts of Marv’s second round, where he talked about the Marv from the WRC’s. I personally, liked the Marv from 08, I thought he was incredibly entertaining, and as far as battling his style was just killing his competition. I think Marv is dope all around, I liked what he did against Cortez, Aye Verb, and on his mixtapes, but I just enjoyed that WRC version more in a battle.
This was an interesting matchup, as Loe is one of the best in Canada, and Marv is one of the most well-respected battlers in Grind Time and URLtv. As Loe commented in this battle, Marv wanted to battle Kid Twist, which I think would have been an incredible match up. These were two dudes who were killing it and doing more of the damage for their respective teams in the WRC’s. I hope that one day this battle actually does take place.
