Grind Time East Coast presents Real Deal vs Lotta Zay from the division’s Most Hated Tournament.  This tourney features 8 MCs vying to be an act on Immortal Techniques “Middle Passage” tour.  This battle proved to be an extremely close match up between these two east coast veterans.

Real Deal was solid as usual in this battle.  He had lines like “when white dude passed out he went to give him mouth to dick resuscitation”, “first round bi-sexual rapper”, “he a fruit and he’ll be a vegetable after”, “I’ll murder the underdog so A-Class can eat”, “Jersey’s all about the working man, Springsteen is your boss”, “if you get a postcard with a brother in it, he was photoshopped”, “I’ll pull the Long Branch out the Garden State and beat you”, “he has grams, so do I, two grandmothers”, “in these battles hes trying to put in work, in a division thats dying to push up Dirt”, and “teaching for a living, you getting schooled on my off day”.

Lotta Zay also had some really great lines in this battle, like “you die like your music files, your life be took in a flash”, “when I shoot these bullets won’t be missing Trevor, its not Hilary Banks”, “whoop your sons ass like the drunk dad from Radio Flyer”, “if the bitches wanted the Real Deal they would have shopped on Black Friday”, “Ku Klux Klan aint nothin to fuck wit”, “Long Branch….string ‘em up Billy I got something to hang em from”, “who got the real deal out this situation”, “the show will move on Deal or No Deal, but I figured that was the case”, “teacher that can’t get through a The Saurus one time”, “Imma toss (your baby momma) to Sara Kana and have her turn her out like a reversible coat”, and “you’re a faggot you always drink people under the table”.

The Report:

At first glance at this match-up, I didn’t think it would be as close as it was.  When it came down to the numeric count of the punchlines, I have Real Deal only taking it by a single line.  On the subjective weight of the lines, they both had some heavy hitters, which seemed even out the final verdict and make actual winner without overtime indistinguishable.

In the breakdown of this battle, I think Real Deal started off really strong and his first round was incredibly tough, while Lotta Zay’s first was solid, but didn’t even up the count to Deal’s.  He had two if his best lines in his first, with that Hilary Banks bar and the Radio Flyer line, which his delivery was excellent on.  I had the second round being edged by a small fraction by Lotta, I thought his aggressiveness was turned up in that round.  The third was pretty even, I thought Real started off a little slow, but really started to pack the punches in the end, and Lotta Zay’s opening Sara Kana flip was nice.

From watching this battle, Lotta Zay’s strength was in his delivery and the execution of his flow.  In contrast, Real Deal has that aggressive, hard hitting delivery.  In the end, Real Deal took the battle, but a as Technique and Pen stated, Lotta Zay earned the respect from many after this performance.  I especially liked the subliminal shot Zay took at the very end.
