Don’t Flop – Respek BA vs Illmaculate
The Punchline Summary:
Don’t Flop presents one of their most anticipated battles of the year. The Fresh Coast’s Illmaculate travels out to the UK to battle Respek BA. It has been nearly 5 years since we have seen Respek BA battle, the last time was in the WRC’s and when Jumpoff.tv were still throwing Street Battles. This turned out to be a very heated competition between these two battle vets.
Illmaculate had some great lines in this battle. He had lines like the William Wallace concept, “Trainspotting”, the Ewan McGregor line, “what you neglect to notice I never met an opponent who could out think me”, “sometimes to camouflage strength you gotta lose a few pieces”, “you lost to Whatshisface, I didn’t”, the Call of Duty flip, “you lazy, you probably got a care package and stared at it”, “you talked about Lord of the Rings, at least I got a couple of rings I can brag about”, “hammer of Thor, smashing my sworn enemies”, “he thought he was sick, but that was just the AIDs his mom contracted before pregnancy”, “Im from a state of mind where respect is earned, not given”, “B.A. must stand for barely any (respect)”, “thats why the name Illmaculate carries respect with it”, “its funny you’re 6’2 and Im 5’6, but you’re a couple of weight classes under me”, and “the fact is any respect anyone ever had for you is gone.”
Respeck BA also had a very solid 3 rounds. He had bars like “Lord of the Rings is the best on the Earth, at least their dwarves get the respect they deserve”, “you just looked angry and jealous for the fans (The Saurus) was getting”, “throws up his V and says live long and prosper”, “you look like Mario on a planet with no Mushrooms”, “I’d rather be a son of a bitch than the bitch of a son”, “I would tell him to suck a dick, but he doesnt need any encouragement”, “honey I shrunk the kid, mom said nah, thats just how the fucker is”, “he’s bigger on his mixtape cover than he is in real life”, “you’re chicks such a slut, she swims in the Hepatitus sea/C”, “the first Don’t Flop battle view to get over 100,000 views, wasnt you, you arrogant piece of shit”, “America was born concept”, and “don’t think that your country got independence from the Brits, July 4th just gave you the impression that you did”.

The Report:
This battle turned out to be a whole lot more heated than I thought that it would be. Yes, it was judged, but there was more aggression and the themes were heavier than I would have expected, especially since this is Respek BA’s return to battling and Illmaculate is battling overseas.
Breaking down this battle, I think they pretty much mirrored each other’s rounds. They both had okay first rounds, both of their 2nd rounds were their strongest, and their third rounds were decent. Illmaculate was really beasting in his 2nd, and had a lot of great freestyled lines. Its not so much that his punchlines have great metaphors or wordplay, no – Illmaculate’s strengths are in his word choice and in the way he delivers his lines that make them so impacting. His third round, he spit some drawn out punchlines, which he gets a lot of flak about, but Respek BA pretty much did the same thing with his America concept, which was good, but took a few bars to get the theme out. I think with Illmac’s long punchlines, people get kind of lost in all of the things he is trying to say – you have to listen to it a couple of times, but once you get it, you realize how dope it i. But, at first listen, its hard to follow through, because people generally like and enjoy simple setup-punchline styles.
In closing, I hope we get a Respek BA vs Arkaic and/or an Illmaculate vs Arkaic.
